Welcome to the 2009 Bairnsdale and Districts Xmas Toy Run!
 

Dave Tomkins is a local bloke, a family man, a small business owner, an employer and a someone who just loves to ride motorbikes! A few years back Dave thought about the difficult situations some of our very own parents, kids and people in general in our local community who don't have a lot of support, and in some cases no support at all around xmas time.
 

Now it has to be said that all the groups involved in providing support every year, do a great job, that's a given, but they could always use a bit more help.  Dave thought what could we riders do, to provide these very important members of our community who don't have a lot, feel just that little bit special around this time of year.
 

 It's a hard time around xmas for people who are doing it tough, and it's Dave's way of saying "we hope we can take a little bit of the pressure off, so you can see the joy in a child's  face, so we're able to help in some small way".
 

So this is what Dave and a few mates did.....
 

In 2008 the inaugural Bairnsdale & Districts Xmas Toy Run was on!  Our intention was and is to provide for the Bairnsdale and Districts area, a collection of money, food and toys to be distributed by the Salvos to our very needy folk in our special community. Yes, even the hardened of us bikers have been known draw a tear or three to see a child's face light up when they receive a gift they never expected. All of us who ride have a soft spot for those who don't have a lot and are down a bit on their luck.
 

In 2008 the run was wet and cold and we had about 90 bikes show up...In 2009 we want to double that...So get on board and show your community spirit by joining us on the 13th of December 2009 at Howitt Park where the Big Slide is at 11:30AM for a 12:00 PM run through some of the prettiest countryside Gippsland has to offer. Bring a toy or two, some cash or some non perishable food for this great cause.
 

Along the way we will be stopping at Bruthen, Nowa Nowa and Lakes Entrance and then back to Bairnsdale for a snag or two....We really hope to see you all there!!! As always be safe.
